Gallium-PSMA PET/CT

It is a PET/CT examination from skull to legs after intravenous injection of the radioactive material Gallium – prostate specific membrane antigen, which detects cancer prostate cells, in the prostate itself and its metastasis all over the body

It is the most sensitive and specific exam to detect prostate cancer cells, it detects the location of cancer cells accurately at a very early stage and at very low PSA levels before all other modalities

• Primary staging in prostate cancer before surgical procedures or planing external beam radiation, where the liklihood
  of lymph node, bone and other organs metastases is increased
• In biochemical recurrence to early identify disease recurrence in the whole body especially with low PSA values between 0.2 and 10 ng/ml
• Monitoring the effect of systemic treatment in metastaic prostate cancer.
• Tagreting biopsy in patients with prior negative biopsies as it is very accurate in localization of primary prostate cancer
